Prairie is on fire with Yellow, Dawg/Buffalo is Better

Hello to all. Well, tis Monday May 7th and humidity is rampant. The lakes are finally full around here and I hope the draught is ended for good. But who knows, this may just be a respite from things to come with the encroachment of global warming. Anyway, we have the best wildflowers going this year that I have not seen in some time. The little yellow "Nigger Toes" are beautiful, along with the Indian Blankets. I'm still letting them grow in my yard as they are too pretty to mow. With all the rain we have had my pine forrest is just about covered up by tall grass and flowers. It is just too wet to mow there yet and every time it seems to dry out a little, here comes the next round of rain. The Dawg / Buffalo is steadily improving. She is putting more weight on the foot and is not turning the knuckle underneath or dragging it. So, we are very hopeful in that direction. I went to Denton and worked in my house on Saturday and just about finished cleaning all the walls and doors in preparation for paint. I hope to find somebody to paint it for me as I just do not have the energy. Yesterday I worked a little in the yard, tilled the weeds in a three different gardens. The wife went to Wally World for groceries and brought back about 6 pepper plants and a tomatoe plant which I promptly planted. They are talking on the news about how the honey bees are dying off by the millions and they don't know what is killing them. I can vouch for the fact as there are hardly any working the flowers in our herb garden. We have a parsley plant that is blooming and yesterday it had green flys all over the blossoms. Really makes me want to eat a lot of parsley. The back-porch swallows are finally setting on the nest. I guess they knew to wait for the cold weather to subside before they laid eggs. They really cuss at us when we come onto the backporch with their chitter/chatter. But they get over it and go about their business. When those babies hatch, they fly dawn till dusk catching flys and feeding. They are some busy birds. I wish that I could tag them somehow to see if it is the same mated pair that come back year after year. They migrate all the way to Central and South America. We've had lots of hummingbirds this year flitting about the flowers. Anyway, it is Monday morning and I've done no work so far so I guess I'd better go and get busy. I'm enclosing some pictures. Oh, by the way, some of the pictures show the collapsed "Bubba Tub". Seems that the cold weather caused the air tube at the top to break and let out all the air. Then back in Feb. when the winds came, it started the water pouring over the side and the whole thing drained. It looks like shit now and I guess when Liz gets out of school for the summer we might try to revive it. Still raining too much to work on it yet. Older Whiskey...
